***BOGO*** NewsProxy/nfilter installation

Given the Mozilla Mail can't adequately handle spam in newsgroups, 
I've decided to give the NewsProxy/nfilter [1] program a try.  I've 
gone and downloaded [2] both the version 1.2 installation program 
and the patched 1.2.1-b1 executable.  I've tried running the 
installation executable but Windows reports it is not a valid Win32 
application.  Does anyone have experience with this, what I might be 
missing?
