Still, I wish the developers would read the comments on either the "Old
Location Bar" extension site:

or the "Oldbar 1.2" extension site:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/reviews/display/6227
Since the tiny little "Go" button, the tiny TINY little dropdown arrow,
the "Unsorted Bookmarks" folder, the "Bookmarks Star" and the Location
Bar (the "Awesomebar") are all related, these remarks show enough
unpopularity or the latter that making it optional is something that the
developers might want to consider.
