I couldn't see any explicit statement, on that page, that said you
couldn't use forward slashes as an alternative to backslashes. FWIW,
I've never encountered the slightest problem with doing just that, and
I don't normally ever use backslashes when I specify a path name--it's
just too ugly for words to describe it.
However, I must also confess that I don't think I've ever called
CreateProcess directly, preferring the simpler syntax of spawn(), (via
a wrapper to correctly preserve whitespace in the arguments).

Yep. I think it's the same one I was looking at, when I said "the same
statement appears in MSDN's more general Windows documentation too".
