Patches posted here will likely be lost; for possible inclusion in the
distribution, they need to go to the patch tracker:

You should also provide a ChangeLog entry, in the format specified by
the GNU Coding Standards:

Also, it would be advisable to test your patch before submission, (and
better still, attach a minimal test case with the patch).
We also need to consider how we document such deviations from standard
MSVCRT behaviour. A manpage for the augmented function, included in
the patch, would be nice; at the very least, a page on MinGWiki, where
we collectively document *all* such enhancements is needed, (in
addition to any provided manpages), IMO.
