I use to make extensive Internet research with Firefox, Opera, Konqueror
browsers (still testing all these, after many years!). Say up to one
thousand sites per day. I archive locally about 50 ones per day, for my
documentation and to share with colleagues when appropiate.
A I use a slow internet connection, and I am many times offline,
bookmarking is not my preferred tool.
I like the webarchiver utility from konqueror to cleanly save entire
webpages on a single file (.war extension).
On Opera I use the mht extension "save complete webpage" saver, and I
haven't yet found a proper one-file webpage archiving on Firefox.
I would like thought:
1- An option or a howto autoclose the webarchiver dialogs when completed
(100%). I end up every once with my task bar fully of those annoying
dialogs, that I have to close one per one.
2- A more compatible extension (.war) so that I can open the archived
page (or send to a colleague) with any other browser, Firefox, Opera,
Ie, Safari.
Or a howto or conversion tool from war to something readeable buy others.
3- A tweak or configuration as to leave all links in the page as
absolute ones (real ones), so they are functional. e.g.: A war web
"download" link points to something like tar:/wiki/Download, instead of
the real link before it was archived.
4- A clear bar on top of the opened war web file (tweaking or
configuration option) that informs the original link, in clear
hyperlinkable text.
Maybe some of this functions are already available via some
configuration file or tweak, any ideas and howtos welcome!
Thanks.
